Serve4Change founder Jeff Harvey has had the privilege of collaborating with Rogelio and Amanda on numerous projects over the past dozen years. Their work includes providing medical aid to victims of violence and injustice, completing structural improvements for local homes, refuges, and churches, transporting clothing, appliances, and household items, and supporting orphaned and abandoned children within their care and around the community.
The current initiative in Mexico focuses on launching and sustaining a feeding program, which will be hosted by the Velázquez’ church in Nava. This program will provide breakfast and after-school meals to approximately 20 children daily. While this will serve a fraction of the children in the immediate area, it’s a vital first step in meeting the needs of many.
In addition to meals, the after-school program will offer help with homework, a craft activity, and an encouraging devotional. Several church members have already committed their time to ensure this program runs every school day.
For now, the program will operate with simple tables and a sheet metal roof on the church grounds. Meals will be prepared in homes and brought to the church. The long-term goal is to build a small kitchen and an enclosed dining area on the church property, enabling onsite food preparation, protection from the weather, and expanding the service to more children in need.
Serve4Change in partnership with those in Mexico, have provided essential support for various initiatives:
“We rise by lifting others.”
-Robert C. Ingersoll
Jeff Harvey in Nava with baby Dulce, who received funding from Serve4Change for burn treatments due to a car accident
Nava children near the church that will immediately benefit from the feeding program
Nava children doing crafts outside of the church
With every donation, Serve4Change is able to continue its mission of empowering communities through local, sustainable solutions that address the most pressing needs of education, health, and poverty alleviation.
