Greetings, and thank you for taking the time to connect with Serve4Change. I hope the work we’re doing here brings you inspiration and hope.
This journey has been long in the making. For as long as I can remember, my heart has been drawn to serving those forgotten or overlooked by society. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than seeing someone’s life improve, even in the smallest way.
I find my deepest joy among people from all walks of life. I am captivated by their unique stories, diverse cultures, and creative expressions. Whether it’s listening to the wisdom of the elderly or engaging with the energy of youth, I feel equally at home.
In 2021, I made my first trip to India, initially as a casual tourist. But I quickly felt an undeniable call to return and serve. Shortly afterward, I found myself back in South India, teaching at a residential school for children from the lowest caste of their society. Those seven months of working with students from PreK to 12th grade—along with the staff and other volunteers—were some of the most transformative of my life.
Afterward, I journeyed north to Nepal, where I taught at a small, rural school in the foothills of the Himalayas. I was the first American to stay in the village for an extended period and the first volunteer they had ever welcomed. This experience further deepened my connection to the region and its people.
From there, I moved on to another incredible experience at a private school in Kathmandu, with 700 students who left a lasting impact on me. These diverse experiences solidified a calling that had been stirring within me for years—I knew my purpose was to serve full-time.
Returning to the U.S. after that year abroad, I found myself asking, “What’s next? Where am I needed most?” My heart was pulled in many directions—including Mexico and Africa, where I had already established deep relationships with community leaders.
Yet, clarity didn’t come easily. I faced spiritual and logistical challenges that I had to navigate before I could find peace and direction. Life, as we know, often disrupts even the best-laid plans with unforeseen challenges. But I remained committed to discerning where God was leading me.
After much reflection, all signs pointed back to Nepal. And by the time you read this, I will likely already be there, beginning again.
Serve4Change was born from my experiences in South Asia, combined with the lessons and relationships I’ve built through years of service in the U.S., and with my associates in Mexico and Africa.
This mission is also deeply inspired by the extraordinary individuals I’ve encountered along the way—people who share a passion for serving others and living lives of purpose.
Serve4Change’s projects aren’t confined to one continent. They are grounded in ongoing, intentional partnerships with local leaders who know their communities’ needs best.
We also welcome the opportunity to partner with existing NGOs. We don’t want to reinvent a wheel that already has rubber on the road, but working in collaboration with existing organizations with similar goals brings more resources and breadth, creating potential to touch even more lives.
Our mission is to empower communities by:
– Enhancing Basic Education: Elevating the quality of education in rural schools through innovative programs and resources.
– Addressing Poverty and Health: Raising awareness and implementing initiatives aimed at poverty alleviation and health crisis intervention.
– Cultivating Character Development: Fostering positive character traits and virtues in students and adults alike to inspire responsible and compassionate citizenship.
In a world often clouded by apathy, we need people with hearts full of compassion, a desire for justice, and a commitment to educating the next generation in virtues that lead to lasting change.
I don’t pretend to know what the future holds for Serve4Change. I am but one thread, woven into a global tapestry of servants dedicated to preserving the
beauty and richness of our shared human experience.
Neither am I an expert, but I can walk alongside others—as an encourager, a facilitator of change.
As the late humanitarian Albert Schweitzer once said, “At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.”
I invite you to stand with us. Together, we can be that spark that lights the way for others, bringing lasting change.
