In 2005, the Victory of Grace Ministry Center was established in Shibuche, near Mumias, in western Kenya. Led by Pastor Martin Indakwa and his wife, Patricia, the ministry serves as a beacon of hope, providing spiritual guidance and community support to several rural congregations.
In 2016, Serve4Change founder Jeff Harvey and Pastor Martin connected on
social media. Their friendship grew over shared experiences and mutual prayers, leading to a powerful partnership that continues today.
In Kenya, pastoral ministry often relies on personal sacrifice. Martin, who
receives no fixed income, supports his family by farming corn on a small plot of land, which he shares with his church community. In addition to pastoring, he volunteers as a community social worker, occasionally receiving small tokens of appreciation for his dedication. “Patricia and I enjoy doing God’s work together despite the challenges,” he says. “We love ministry more than anything and pray we can always say ‘yes’ whenever He calls.”
Through Serve4Change, Jeff and his team have provided essential support for various initiatives:
“It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.”
-Mother Theresa
For several years, Martin and Patricia have organized free Medical Treatment
Camps (MTCs) to combat local health crises. These camps address diseases
such as malaria, typhoid, cholera, dysentery, and jigger flea infestations that
plague the community. (Read more on our blog, “Battling Jigger Fleas in Kenya”) Serve4Change is committed to expanding resources for these life-saving MTCs, strengthening efforts to combat the health epidemics impacting millions across Kenya and Africa.
Another very pressing issue in Shibuche is the scarcity of clean water. With the last well dried up, nearly 200 families must draw water from contaminated streams, boiling it as a limited safeguard. Serve4Change is actively seeking partnerships with well-drilling organizations to address this urgent need, aiming to provide sustainable, clean water access to Shibuche and surrounding communities.
Through Serve4Change, Uganda receives essential support for various initiatives. Current significant endeavors include:
“There is nothing small in the service of God”
– St. Francis De Sales
With every donation, Serve4Change is able to continue its mission of empowering communities through local, sustainable solutions that address the most pressing needs of education, health, and poverty alleviation.
